The top Dota players around the world are gearing up for the 2021 pro tournaments. We’re here to keep you informed about which events are coming up, along with the schedule, teams, and prizes you can expect to see.
Valve created this hit online game over eight years ago. In that time, it gained international attention for Dota 2 players and bettors alike. Last year’s schedule was greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and Valve decided to postpone the biggest event of the year – The International.
The upcoming tournaments for 2021 are following a new setup and structure. Some events previously held in person have been moved online. Valve also removed open qualifiers and replaced them with regional competitions. Read on for this year’s highly anticipated docket.
Dota 2 tournaments 2021 – the hottest matches to bet on!
There are many Dota 2 pro teams located around the world. These are collectively referred to as the Dota Pro Circuit, or DPC. Members of the DPC compete in different brackets at an array of Dota 2 major and regional competitions throughout the year.
There’s a singular goal and two ways to achieve it. The goal is to attend The International X (marking the 10th year since its creation). To compete, teams must either win major tournaments for a direct invite or accumulate the most points throughout the season.

ONE esports Singapore Major 2021 by PGL
The ONE esports Singapore Major 2021 by PGL is the first big event of the Dota 2 season. It kicks off on March 26th and will end on April 3rd. There are three stages in which teams will compete, earn points, and hopefully improve their standings.
This will operate as one of the year’s Dota 2 LAN tournaments. It will occur in person at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, and players will compete on a locally hosted network. The prize pool for this event is $500,000.
The top Dota 2 team will take $200,000 home. The remaining $300,000 will be dispersed between the other seven teams of the top eight. A total of 2700 DPC points will also be awarded; the winners receive 500 of those points. We discuss qualifying team brackets and the order of events next.
Singapore Major 2021
There are three stages to this Dota 2 Major. The first stage is called Wild Card and brings together lower-placed teams for a chance to improve their standings. There are two teams from Europe, two teams from China, and one team each from Southeast Asia and CIS.
The Wild Card teams for 2021 are Nigma, Liquid, Gambit, VG, PSG.LGD, and T1. These six teams will compete in Round Robin setup with a best-of-two format. The top two teams move on to the next matches, while the other four are eliminated.
Next is the Group Stage with eight competing teams. As in the previous round, six of these come from different regions. Each team is ranked second for their region before competing, and the two Wild Card winners join them.
This year’s teams from regionals are Quincy Crew, ThunderP, Alliance, NAVI, Aster, and Neon. The Group Stage will also have a Round Robin with best of two. The top two teams move to the Upper Division to join the following stage. The two lowest-ranked teams are eliminated.
Finally, there are the Playoffs. This round has twelve teams that compete in Double Elimination brackets. The Playoff event is a busy time for Dota 2 betting sites. Punters are eager to watch Dota 2 live streaming and bet who will make it to the invitational.
This year’s teams are Evil Geniuses, Beast Coast, Secret Team, Virtus Pro, IG, and Fnatic, along with the winners of the Group Stage. Eight teams begin in the upper bracket and four in the lower. Players on the winning team roster take home that $200,000 prize and 500 DPC points.
Dota 2 Russian Championship 2021
Russian eSports Championship is next on the schedule. The event runs from May 1st to May 23rd. The Russian eSports Federation hosts the Dota 2 Championship alongside other games like Starcraft II and NHL 20.
The location for this year’s tournament has not been announced yet. However, the 2020 Championship was conducted with both offline and online Dota 2 events. We expect to learn more details by the end of March or the beginning of April regarding the location.
Like the Singapore Majors, there is a play-in event first. This begins with the Group Stage. Participating teams compete in a single Round Robin, and winners are awarded for best of one. Only two teams have qualified for the Group Stage at this point.
These teams are DisRespect and SMARACIS eSports. Both qualified on the February 7th minors. These teams also competed last year and moved up the following two rounds.
Next, there is an elimination bracket with all matches awarded for best of three. The top four teams then compete in the LAN Final on May 22nd and 23rd. These elimination brackets are likewise based on best of three.
The top four teams will split 1.5 million rubles between them. In USD, first place receives about $10.8k, second place $5.4k, third place $2.7k, and fourth takes $1.3k.
The International 2021 – Biggest Dota 2 Championship
The International is the biggest of the Dota 2 tournaments 2021 has to offer. This event was postponed indefinitely in 2020. However, Valve has finally released the date for the competition – and it begins on August 14th and ends on August 30th.
This will be an offline game that occurs in Stockholm, Sweden. It has not been decided if any online Dota 2 events will be mixed in due to the ongoing pandemic.
The top twelve DPC teams and Major players are invited to play. This is without a doubt the most popular betting event for fans of Dota 2 pro teams. It’s an elimination-style tournament that has an impressive prize pool.
Before the event was postponed, The International X prize pool had already reached $40 million. In addition to the unbelievable amount of money on the line, players also work hard to preserve or improve their standings. The two lowest-ranked teams from the Upper Division are demoted, while the two highest-ranked teams from the Lower Division take their place.
